About
Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics and Biomathematics

Dr. Nawal H. Siddig
Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics and Biomathematics and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK. Her work joins mathematical modelling with the biological and medical sciences, published in international peer-reviewed journals, and she brings long experience in modern teaching methods, e-learning and curriculum design.
My mission
To advance applied mathematics and biomathematics education and research through innovative teaching, e-learning technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration; to build a learning environment that inspires critical thinking, creativity and scientific inquiry; and to contribute research that addresses real-world challenges in health, biology and society.
What I work on
Modelling biological systems
Equations that describe what happens inside the body, from blood flow in arteries to fluid waves in the cochlea.
Disease dynamics
Compartmental models that forecast epidemics such as COVID-19 and leishmaniasis, and measure the effect of quarantine and control.
Mathematics in medicine
Analysis and computer simulation that serve clinicians and health-science researchers.
Analysis and simulation
Numerical, probabilistic and fractional methods to solve models and test how they behave.
Interdisciplinary applications
Mathematics applied to biology and engineering, from nanofluids to robot arms.
